MBA Acceptance

I am so excited to start this new adventure in my life. I have been officially accepted to the Florida Atlantic University MBA program. This will be a challenging adventure for me as I juggle being a mom, wife and career woman. I will remain working and do my school program on weekends and squeeze homework in on the week nights.

I am not worried about the work load or my ability to make it through the program. My true challenge is to get this opportunity funded so I can go. I am not financially able to fund the program on my own. The total cost is around $38k over the course of 23 months. The first hurdle for me is a $600 deposit to hold my spot that is due by October 22, 2008.

I am reaching out to friends and family for any donation -- big or small. Anything will help me fund this truly amazing opportunity that is before me.

I believe this MBA will bring me to a new level in my career and also provide me with a sense of accomplishment. I also hope that it brings me knowledge and leverage to go to new heights and be able to impact others in my future.

I appreciate any help.

People That Make Me Angry

So, people make mistakes. I make mistakes... and I sure did it now. I have been looking for a Preschool for my little one. Have you ever done this? It is GRUELING. They tell you they will fill up. One parent tells you one thing, another tells you another thing. An you, of course, think this one year... this FIRST year of your child's education could alter the rest fo their life!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, needless to say... I found THE ONE. The one private preschool where the tuition wasn't too bad and everything seemed great from parent's reviews. Well, I visited and I paid that NON REFUNDABLE registration fee of $370... YES, i said THREE HUNDRED SEVENTY DOLLARS... that's right.

Well, I left... drove back to work... and changed my mind. Don't I have that right? Well, technically yes, but for $370 dollars.

My husband has tried to call and get me out of my stupidity but with no avail. We will continue to press on. Someone gave me the great advice of being so annoying that they will refund that charge... you know the one I called for a refund for only 20 hours after it was made??

How to Buy the Best Mattress

I have been on the hunt this past month for a new mattress due to the dark circles, aching back and a few too many elbow jabs to the restless person next to me. So, how does one choose a mattress? What does all this information mean? Here is what I learned from the hunt...

First step... get on the Internet. Find out what different kinds of mattresses are out there. Learn the brands, their price ranges and what they have to offer. Then GO SHOPPING. This is the fun part.

Hands on learning - If you go to the main furniture chains out there... you will have less personalized service. I wanted someone that knew what they were talking about - - I'm NO mattress expert. I ended up at City Mattress in the end. I link to them because I receive EXCEPTIONAL service there.

Then lay on every mattress you see. And let me tell you... if you want some comfortable, non-transfer of motion sleep... go lay on a PranaSleep, TEMPUR-PEDIC, or a Simmons. These are the best mattresses! Incredible. The first two are foam. PranaSleep is actually a latex. Simmons is a regular style mattress but is different from the other manufacturers because it is individually coiled. GENIUS! I'm not real sure why the other mattress manufacturers are not doing this! It's a real no-brainer to me.

So, I learned a bunch from this hunt to how to buy the best mattress. Latex is the way to go. Mine has been delivered today. I will update on the status if my glorious sleep patterns soon!
